Philippians 1:6,

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

John 3:16,

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

What strength resonates from the chord struck by both of these promise-laden verses! God began a work, first by preveniently loving the world, by the giving of His Son, and then by enabling the believing on Him in all of His elect. And what does the Almighty promise with regard to this work He has begun? To “bring it to completion” so that not a single one who has ever believed “in Him” will ever “perish but have eternal life”! Not “might have eternal life” but shall “have eternal life”. Not might “bring it to completion” but “will bring it to completion”. When? “…At the day of Jesus Christ.”

I can’t wait for that day. Can you?
