Resignation from Hague Gospel Church

April 18, 2010

Dear Church Family at Hague Gospel Church,

It was with great joy that God brought myself and my family to Hague in the Fall of 2006, to serve Him in this church. I have so much to thank God for, seeing how He has moved with great power in so many of you, through the Gospel of His Son. Your hunger for the Word of God and for the glory of His name has been my joy during these three years. And now, together with the deacons, Heather and I believe God is calling us to leave Hague and prepare for another ministry elsewhere.

It is with heavy hearts that we leave you, because we love you. But we know that God is leading and ruling in His gracious sovereignty not only for the good of this church but for our good as well. In fact He promises this in His Word:

Romans 8:28-30 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

I know that this parting is painful for you as it is for us. But I want to encourage you, especially those of you whom I have had the privilege of leading to Christ or of discipling in the faith, do not cling to me. I am just the man God used to draw you to Jesus Christ. You need to cling to Him. So my final charge to you as a whole congregation is to look to Jesus in the Gospel of His cross. Savour Jesus in continuing to fill your minds with the doctrines of His grace. Trust in Jesus with every step you take, each and every day. And follow Jesus so that whether we meet again in this life or not, we will meet again as together we see Jesus one day face to face.

Hebrews 13:17-21 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things… Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Pastor Joe & Heather, Daniel, Josiah & Bethany
