My name is Joe Haynes. My wife Heather and I have seven kids, five of them adults. We live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I've served in pastoral ministry for over 20 years. I attended Prairie Bible College, received a Master of Arts in Christian Studies from Northwest Baptist Seminary (at ACTS & Trinity Western University, 2011), and a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at The Master's Seminary in Los Angeles (2024).

The old photo is of myself and my grandfather, Rev. A.J.L. Haynes. He was the pastor of Maple Ridge Baptist Church where our family attended but had already retired before I came along. He died in 1983. A few years later, when I was 15, I suddenly became interested in end times Bible prophecy and my dad wisely encouraged me to start studying the Bible for myself. To help me begin, he handed me a book that had belonged to my grandpa, The Approaching End of the Age, by H. Grattan Guinness. Over the years, my dad, and my uncles and aunts continued to encourage my study of Scripture and supply me with old books to read on the subject. What I was learning led me to launch the first version of this site in 1999. 

My love for Bible prophecy grew into a deeper love for all of the Bible, and that same year, at the age of 29, Heather and I moved our very young kids to Three Hills, Alberta, where I started Bible College. Soon, to my own surprise, God led me to follow in my grandfather's footsteps into pastoral ministry, and called me to preach. I committed myself to the expository preaching of His Word, and returned with my family to British Columbia to attend seminary. After serving as a pastor in churches in three provinces, God led us, in 2011, to Victoria, where we planted Beacon Church. I've been serving Beacon Church ever since, and now pastor the church along with a team of elders. In 2019 God opened the door for me to go back to school to receive further training in expository preaching leading to the completion of a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from TMS in 2024. 

I confess the historic and evangelical Christian faith set out in the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession, and the Doctrinal Statement of Beacon Church.
